Arlene Hoag has 20 years experience homesteading and raising a family at the edge of the Montana wilderness. She earned a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and then went on to earn her teaching credential. In 1985 she moved to Montana and found it to be a great place to raise her family. This was the start along her path of self-sufficiency. She learned that this path didn't mean having to provide everything necessary to live on without going to the store, but it was all about learning how to take care of oneself and others for a while during an unforeseen emergency.
Twelve years ago she chose to get involved in the preparedness field because of her desire to help others acquire the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are ready for possible emergencies. She shares that knowledge with her customers as owner of Yellowstone Trading Company, which she manages with her grown daughter, Bethany. The company provides preparedness equipment and supplies, including a 72-hour survival kit and long-term food storage programs.
Arlene is the co-author, with Philip Hoag, of their first book, No Such Thing as Doomsday.
